Homemade Almond Milk Recipe

These days almond milk is available but have you ever asked what it really contains? Looking at certain store-bought copies of the ingredient list, you could come across sugars, fats, starches, and stabilizers. but if you're making it at home, almond milk has just three ingredients: almonds, water and salt (optional). Additionally, you'll be left with a cup of almond pulp that you can scatter over oatmeal, apply to salad dressings or even use as the basis of a luscious body scrub.

Homemade Almond Milk Recipe

Tasty almond milk recipe you can make it with just three ingredients: almonds, water and salt (optional). Additionally, you'll be left with a cup of almond pulp that you can scatter over oatmeal, apply to salad dressings or even use as the basis of a luscious body scrub.

Ingredients


  • cup raw almonds
  • cups water, plus additional for soaking almonds
  • teaspoon sea salt

Instructions


  1. Place almonds in a bowl and cover with water by at least two inches. Cover loosely and let bowl sit on the kitchen counter for 12 to 24 hours. 
  2. Drain almonds, discarding all liquid, and rinse thoroughly. 
  3. Add almonds to blender with 2 cups water and ? teaspoon sea salt. Blend on high until smooth, about 1 minute. If you prefer a thinner consistency, add up to 2 more cups of water.
  4. Strain mix through a nut milk bag into a medium-sized bowl. Continue to squeeze and knead contents until all the liquid has been strained out.
  5. Transfer liquid to an air-tight container and store in the fridge. Milk will separate so stir before each use. Enjoy within four days.  
  6. Discard almond pulp or transfer it to a small container and keep in the fridge. Sprinkle it on oatmeal, enjoy tossed in pancakes, sprinkled on salads or add to a smoothie bowl. 


Tip: If you don’t have a nut milk bag, use cheesecloth or a fine mesh sieve.
